Halloween is just around the corner, and it's a long Halloween weekend, so it's time to spend some spooky family time! Here's a round up of cool, creepy, and not so spooky Halloween activities and parties for the kids, the kids at heart.

2015 Trick-Or-Treat Events & Halloween Parties in the Metro

Halloween was thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts.  In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as All Saints Day, a time to honor all saints and martyrs, and a day which we Filipinos always celebrate. 

The evening before was known as All Hallows’ Eve and later Halloween, which some of the traditions of Samhain were incorporated. Over time, Halloween evolved into a community-based event with child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating and wearing costumes. (history.com)

Just a little trivia about Trick or Treat: Although it is unknown precisely where and when the phrase “trick or treat” was coined, the custom had been firmly established in American popular culture by 1951, when trick-or-treating was depicted in the Peanuts comic strip.
