Season of love and the arts at Shang

February is filled with unique date and gift ideas to celebrate creativity and romance

Did you know that the month of love is also National Arts Month in the country? As a long-standing supporter of arts and culture, Shangri-La Plaza is celebrating both by bringing various forms of arts closer to people who love everything aesthete. “For the Love of Art” curates activities perfect for spending quality time with a special someone or finding unique gifts that will make them feel loved.

A heart for art. Go on a cool, creative date by learning more about up-and-coming Filipino artists like hyperrealist painters Neill Christian Simon Onza, Nestor Abayon, Jr., and Jarren Dahan at SIBOL, the first in-person exhibit of ArtPh. The organization aims to support new talents while making their work more accessible to art collectors and enthusiasts around the world through online auctions and exhibits. SIBOL runs until February 14, 2023 at the East Atrium.

There’s even more local art at Homegrown from February 21-28. Presented by Shang-based Galerie Raphael and ArtPlus Magazine, one of the leading contemporary art galleries in the country, the exhibitshowcases a wonderful selection of genre artworks.

In the mood for love. There’s nothing quite like iconic love songs to get one in the mood for romance. On February 11, the Grand Atrium plays host to Just Love, a Live at the Shang Valentine’s concert. Catch the sweet repertoire of genre-defying singer-songwriter Jarlo Bâse, Filipino classical singers MEN Ensemble (Male ENsemble) and vocalist or violinist-vocalist Jobry Cimafranca as they perform our all-time favorite love songs.

Diamonds are forever. Fine jewelry is absolutely wearable art and a perfect gift to symbolize how love can last a lifetime. The Iridescent: Jewelry & Art Fair on February 14 to 19 culls modern, artsy pieces and classic designs from the Shang’s array of jewelry and watch brands including Sunjewel with its meticulously curated artisanal fine diamond and gemstone pieces, and V! Jewelry for their Filipino-inspired creations that bring the South Sea pearl to its most modern iterations. Manila Diamond Studio, one of the most established local jewelry stores in the country, is a must-go-to, while Artologist Gallery is known for its unique and on-trend sculptural pieces.

Love is in the air. Shang has taken extra steps to offer a romantic atmosphere leading up to Valentine’s Day. The Flower Market returns with its bountiful array of flora and fauna for delightful bouquets and arrangements on February 10-15.  Buskers are set to serenade couples with beloved songs on February 11, 12 and 14.  Finally, on the day of love, the iconic Valentine’s Boys of Shangri-La Plaza will once again stroll around the mall, handing out the sweetest treats while being accompanied by musical performers.

Shangri-La Plaza is setting hearts aflutter for romance and art all this month. For updates and inquiries, follow Shangri-La Plaza on Facebook at facebook.com/shangrilaplazaofficial and on Instagram @shangrilaplazaofficial.
