New Community Quarantine Classification for May 2021: Extended MECQ for NCR+ & What have changed

 

Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) classification has been extended for NCR!+: National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna and Cavite starting May 1 until May 14, 2021.

Santiago City in Quirino province and Abra province will also be under MECQ.  Apayao, Baguio City, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Batangas, Quezon, Tacloban, Iligan City, Davao City, and Lanao del Sur will be under general community quarantine (GCQ) while the rest of the Philippines will be under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) from May 1-31, 2021.

What have changed, especially for NCR+ which is still under MECQ?  New curfew hours are now from 10pm to 4am. Malls will be allowed to operate up to 50% capacity for essential establishments.  Barbershops, beauty salons, nail spas and other personal care establishments will be allowed to operate up to 30 % capacity. Dine-in services on restaurants will also be allowed with up to 10 % capacity. 

Here are some details:


Restaurants, eateries, commissaries, and other food preparation establishments are allowed to resume their indoor dine-in services in areas under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) at an initial 10% venue or seating capacity.

These food preparation establishments, however, may operate their indoor dine-in services beyond this limitation, provided that they comply with the Safety Seal Certification Program.




Also allowed is the resumption of operations of beauty salons, beauty parlors, barbershops and nail spas at an initial 30% venue or seating capacity in MECQ areas. However, these establishments shall only provide services that can accommodate the wearing of face masks at all times by clients and service providers.
